• A History Lesson:
• From 1924 through 1984, Beverly Hills-based architect Gerard R. Colcord designed more than 300 residential estates and 100 remodels. Most were in Los Angeles. While Colcord produced a variety of styles (Tudor, Country French, Hollywood Regency, Spanish Hacienda, Monterey Colonial, and Contemporary), many of his most well-known homes were sprawling “Country Colonials.”
• For those of you want to learn more about Gerard Colcord, Bret Parsons wrote a great book about the architect entitled "Colcord Homes."
• This house has obviously been modernized and has a slightly less "rustic" feel than some Colcord's other homes, but we love it nonetheless. It's on one of the city's great streets, has a tennis court (we love tennis courts) and a lot of land, and we think the interiors are beautiful.
