DESCRIPTION

A Big Sur property of rare caliber has recently become available for the first time in decades. Surely in the running for being one of Big Sur’s ultimate residences, this gorgeously crafted home exudes soulful, artistic, serene architecture. Designed by Mark Mills, this home is as much a temple, as it is a reflection of Big Sur’s architectural heart over the last decades. Perfectly placed on the natural summit of eighteen 180 degree blue and whitewater view acres, this home enjoys panoramic views of the pristine Santa Lucia mountain range and it’s noble citizen, Marble Peak. The main house has the purest of Big Sur intentions, with horizontal redwood and stone embedded walls forming the backdrop, an outdoor room that transcends time and space, and a rustic elegance that one immediately senses is the real deal. This is Big Sur on another level…a level that is almost impossible to put a price on. 2 BR, 2 Baths are in the main house and there is also a detached 2 bedroom caretaker’s residence along with a separate detached office / artist’s studio.

OTHER FEATURES

Views, caretaker's residence, detached studio.

WHAT MAKES THIS A BUNGALUX

Ultimate Big Sur offering

  • • A History Lesson on Mark Mills:
  • • A mid-century modern architect, Mills was born and raised in Jerome, Arizona, the son of a mining engineer. He completed a BS in Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado. He then moved to Phoenix and worked as a draftsman for the architecture firm of Lescher and Mahoney, which is where he was when the telegram came inviting him to meet with Frank Lloyd Wright.
  • • Mills lived at Taliesin from 1944-48 and studied under Frank Lloyd Wright. After his time at Taliesin, he worked on The Dome House in the desert and then relocated to San Francisco. Many of his famous designs were in the Big Sur/Carmel/Pebble Beach area, the perfect milieu for his architectural style of "oneness" between nature and homes.
