We're going to admit it: We have a bit of Titanic envy. Sure, the ship sank. But we still love the idea of having Leonardo DiCaprio sketch us naked, and we adore those gorgeous outfits and fancy parties. And as for that sex scene in the back of the car? Well, the last time some guy made us reach for the backseat window in ecstasy was quite some time ago.

Alas, most of the Titanic lusts are never to be achieved, but there's one we don't have to hit an iceberg to get: The steamer trunk.

Thanks to overweight baggage fees and techno fabrics, carrying steamer trunks on vacation is no longer practical. That’s okay though, because they look so darn good at the foot of our beds, as coffee tables, or as showpieces in the corner of a room. Indeed, the steamer trunk is one of “the” Bungalux status symbols. Our favorites are the vintage Louis Vuitton and Goyard.

As for where to buy them, we saw a Louis Vuitton at Vallone Design when we stopped by in a recent trip to Phoenix. Also, vintage Louis Vuitton and Goyard trunks are available online and at various other antique dealers.

What's the downside you may ask? We'd have to say the prices. They're pretty titanic, but think of the bright side: At least there's no iceberg involved.
