Alexandra von Furstenberg is the epitome of what Bungalux is about ... chic, cool, beautiful, and sophisticated.

Alexandra attended the Parsons School of Design and Brown University, where she studied costume design and art history. In 1995, Alexandra joined the design team of her mother-in-law, American fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg. During her ten year career at DVF as Creative Director and later as Director of Image, Alexandra was instrumental in the re-launch of the iconic wrap dress as well as reinforcing the relevance of this American brand.

After relocating to Los Angeles in 2006, Alexandra focused on designing exclusively for the home. A synthesis of art, home furnishings and fashion, her collection consists of signed, limited edition pieces made out of acrylic – a nod to the 1970s when acrylic was widely regarded as the material of the future.

Alexandra’s gorgeous eye-catching acrylic pieces range from small to big, and are all different price points. I am in love with the whole line so it’s tough for me to pick favorites, but I recommended the tray in my recent style picks, I love the bowls, and the side tables will be my first purchase when I make it big.

I am so thrilled to share my Q&A with the fabulous Alexandra.

  1. If you could only keep one piece of clothing from your closet what would it be?

Oh my, that's hard. It changes from season to season. Maybe my first Chanel bag my mom gave me when I was 12.

  2. Which room in your house do you spend the most time in and why?

Kitchen / family room ... it's all connected. We eat together, we hang and talk, watch movies, I would say cook together but I don't cook…So I set the table very well :-).

  3. What is your favorite flower arrangement?

My favorite flowers are dahlias (all one color) and roses - also all one color or in an ombré of pinks.

  4. If you had to live in one city the rest of your life which would it be?

Right here in Los Angeles, I love it!

  5. What's your one decorating tip for the home?

Edit edit edit. Less is more. What you choose has to stand strong.

  6. Where's your favorite vacation spot?

Anywhere tropical - Phuket, Bali…I have never been to Vietnam but I'm dying to go.

  7. What's your go-to white paint?

Iceberg white, a cool based white.

  8. What's your favorite home accessory?

My CHARM BOWLS of course :-).

  9. If I were to splurge on one item for the home what would it be?

A beautiful contemporary painting or sculpture.

  10. Where do you see home trend going?

Sleek, warm and modern. Since we are constantly growing with new technology, machinery and materials, modern is surely not going away anytime soon. As for color versus safe, that is in the eye of the home owner. Decorating one's home is such a form of expressing your style, taste and your fashion sense. I don't believe color goes out of style - how you use it does.
