We at Bungalux are big readers. In fact, we’ve even been known to write a book or two. But we’re going to make a secret admission: Half of those books on our shelves are for show.
We’ve either read them or never intend to read them, but in either case our books are placed just perfectly to prove we’re literary, well-read, and hate chick lit. For example, The Corrections, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and The New Yorker are prominently displayed while He’s Just Not That into You gets shoved in the back of our closet (We’re just kidding. We didn’t read that book. Really. Doesn’t apply to us).
And so, if our bookshelves are for show, shouldn’t our bookends be as well? The answer to that is a resounding yes, and our favorite bookends of the moment are by Spinasi. Most of Spinasi’s delightful creations feature animals: We love all of them, so you can’t go wrong. We gave the Shark bookends as a host present to a guy with a cool beach Cape Cod who let us stay in his guesthouse, and we gave the Snow Owl as a wedding gift. They’re great in any bookshelf… traditional or modern, masculine or feminine. In fact, the guy we gave the Shark to uses his in his kitchen for his cookbook collection.
The bookends are priced at $265-$395 and we’re pretty sure you won’t leave the site without adding one or two to your cart.
Oh, and although we promise that the bookends will up the cool ante of your bookshelf, we assure you self-help books will not. So we’re going to offer a second piece of advice in today’s article: Get rid of those self-help books or, at very least, hide them.
