I've been remiss in my celebrity real estate gossip, but instead of doing individual pieces, I’ve decided to pluck my three most gossip-worthy and put them in one article.
I’m going to start with Carolyn Murphy’s “model” Brentwood house. Featured in Vogue, Carolyn’s house is the perfect example, in my very humble opinion, of a well-done updated old Mediterranean. I love the reclaimed wood floors (I’m going against the grain – pun – here, as all my clients seem to like really dark) and the laid-back beachy feel, perfect for a house around two miles from the shore in Los Angeles. In addition, take note of the terracotta tile. This has been exceptionally out of vogue (sorry) lately, but it looks great here, don’t you think?
The three bedroom, three and a half bath house features a pool and is listed around $3 million. And it will sell, despite the 8,300 square foot lot. After all, who needs a lot of land with that pool? (See additional photos by clicking the link below.)
Speaking of square feet, Jim Carrey’s beach house in Malibu Colony just went on the market as well. The listing says it's priced for immediate sale and at close to $4,000 per square foot it’s got us all wondering: Is over $4,000/foot rock bottom Kmart prices these days? And what happened to the bottom of the market? I guess that truly did come and go. Hmmm. The power of celebrity … or the Colony, one never knows. Asking price for the under 3,000 square foot house is $13 million and, yes, it is behind the famed Colony guard gate, so paparazzi be damned. (Again, see below for more photos.)
Finally, Claire Danes and husband Hugh Dancy put their Architectural Digest-published Soho loft on the market for $6 million. The 3,851 square foot space features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The building itself dates back to 1882, but the apartment definitely has a modern feel through its decor and finishes.
